Clovelly Country Club,
Nestled in the pristine
and tranquil Silvermine Valley close to Fish Hoek (5 Minutes
drive from the Villa) in Cape Town Lies
Clovelly Country Club established in 1934.
With one of the finest
courses in South Africa, Clovelly offers its members and
visitors a memorable experience. The course is
short and narrow making it a real challenge when windy but
will reward accuracy off the tee.
Clovelly like fine Cape wines
- improves steadily with age, and its vintage and quality
is well established throughout South
Africa, and indeed, beyond our shores. This reputation
is founded on the warmth of Clovelly's "family" character
and its outstanding facilities.
Clovelly is one of the most frequently
visited courses. Visitors from as far as Thailand and Ireland
frequent their fairways,
and tour groups from far flung corners of the world regularly
repeat their visits because of the golfing experience.
The club
states that over 60 000 rounds of golf are played on the course
each year which explains why it is necessary to plan
and book your orunds in advance. Even with the high amount of
rounds the cousre is consistelty in good condition. A comment
regulary made by guests returning from a round of golf.
Many
visitors don’t have the time or are uable to obatin
a booking to play in the morning or early afternoon so
they play after 4pm, the cost of which is about a quarter
of the
usual
price. With the late evening sunsets during Summer most
are able to play a full round of golf.

Steenberg Golf Club
The Steenberg Golf Club has an 18-hole
championship course designed by Peter Matkovich;
a backdrop of vineyards, gardens, forests
and mountains provides the setting for this beautiful
exclusive course. Peaceful and un crowded secure golfing.
Designed for
your enjoyment, the pristine tees and fairways offer
a year round special experience.
The course features four
distinct areas: Wetlands, Parklands,
The Cape Flats and Fynbos. With four different tees, all,
from championship to junior level, can enjoy the course.
Many golfers
envy the superb condition of this soft spike course and it
is widely renowned for having the best greens in Cape
Town. There
are also a number of practice areas, including a driving
range, chipping area with sand traps and a large putting
green.

Westlake Golf Club
Against the amethyst slopes of the
Silvermine Mountains lies one of Cape Town's Premier
Courses – Westlake,
just 15 minutes drive from the Villa
This easy to walk, 18 hole
Par 72 golf course is characterised by the towering
trees, which line many of its fairways. Westlake
has a very interesting, yet user-friendly design and
quite a few doglegs. If you manage to stay out of the
trees, you will
achieve a good score. From the first to the eighteenth
hole, every step affords panoramic views of the surrounding
mountains.
Established
in 1932, Westlake Golf Club welcomes visitors with
its special blend of old world charm and modern amenities
in
an atmosphere of conviviality and camaraderie.

Simons town
This golf course situated just outside the
historic naval town of Simon’s Town is on sloping
hilly terrain that allows for superb sea views. The
seaside location
is on high ground
and is not well protected from the prevailing wind.
The course is quite short (though the wind lengthens
it considerably) and
the punch low shot and the bump and run technique are
required to master this layout. The welcome in the
clubhouse is friendly
and the views of False Bay memorable.

type course is less than 10 minutes drive from the Guest House.
Others courses within 30 minutes drive include Royal
Cape, Rondebosch and Mowbray. Soccer
Fish Hoek is home to a successful soccer club with teams
covering all age groups. Cricket and Hockey
The cricket club has been in existence for
72 years during which period it has constantly provided a friendly
home to all cricket
supporters.
The Fish Hoek hockey club use the fields and
clubhouse during the winter months.
The comfortable clubhouse
has a fully licensed bar and TV facilities. Squash
Fish Hoek squash club recently hosted the national Gym
We have a gym within 500 meters of the guesthouse in the Fish
Hoek Town Centre as well as another in the Long Beach Mall that
also offers aerobic, pilatos classes. Horse riding
The Noordhoek beach is the favoured spot for horse riding with
a number of Horse riding schools in the area. Horse riding can
usually be booked a day before but if this is one of your important
activities its best to book it at least a week in advance. |
