The
Guest House > Our Accommodation (Living
Areas,
Bedrooms, Facilities & Services)
Our guests have full use of the Guest House as opposed to a
Bed Breakfast where parts of the house are shared with the owners.
Your hosts live on the premises but have their own apartment.
Living Areas
Entertainment and Pool area
The best part about this area is that it allows you to make
the most of our warm weather. The pool lounges allow you to soak
up the sun after a swim in the solar heated swimming pool or
you can retreat into the shade under the Lapa (African gazebo)
to enjoy a good book and a drink.
We do host braais (traditional way of preparing meat, fish and
chicken) called a barbeque in some countries and pizza evenings
for guests on an ad hoc basis, if you would like to make your
own or would prefer your hosts to prepare a meal for you please
ask.
Please ask your hosts for Pool or Beach Towels.
It is extremely important to use SUN LOTIONS as even a short
period in the sun without this protection can leave you feeling
rather ill.
Guest Lounge
The lounge is a great meeting place; enjoy a break from the
sun or that pre dinner drink from the Honesty bar. The fireplace
helps us to get though our rather mild winters; the average winter
temperature of 6 degrees is cold to us.
Dinning & Serving Area
The dining area is able to accommodate all our guests and is
heated during winter.
We are not in favour of guests eating in their rooms and therefore
make the dining and serving areas available to guests so that
they can enjoy takeouts or prepare their own meal using the microwave
oven.
On site Parking
We offer on-site parking as it is an important criteria for
guests as most are driving hired vehicles.
When we have a wheelchair user in residence one of the bays
is reserved for their use.
The driveway gates are motorised with each guest provided with
a control button to open and close the gates. We ask that the
gates be kept closed at all times. When leaving please make sure
that the gates are closing before you drive away.

Facilities
Honesty Bar - Fish Hoek is a dry town (no alcohol can be sold
from a retail store, restaurants and pubs may however serve alcohol
to their customers) so we keep a small stock for the thirsty
traveller.
DVD Library - Some of our own titles, mainly classics
but have a contract with a video store that is within walking
distance
if you looking for something a little different.
Library – The Guest Exchange library, if you finish
a book why not leave it behind for another guest to enjoy?
Many
books have been left behind for this purpose so feel free
to start reading one, if you do not finish it by the time you
leave
take it with you.
Tourist Information – We have guidebooks and brochures
for your use.
Maps - Laminated local maps for your use, we have sourced
some of the user-friendliest maps of the area and laminated
them to
improve your planning and the navigator’s task while
doing your sight seeing during the day. Kindly return them
at the end
of each day.
Computer Access – We do have a computer for guests to
use instead of having to visit Internet cafes.
Broadband Internet access – Wireless Internet access
is available throughout most of the villa, please ask your
hosts
for the access codes. Two fixed Internet access points have
been placed in the guest areas as well. We do not charge for
this
facility on condition that it is not used to down load large
files.
Cellular Telephones – With the advent of cellular telephones
we have decided not to install telephones in the rooms. Most
guests bring their phones from home; if a phone is required
they either use their own cell phone provider or insert local
SIM
cards that are extremely cheap. We have number of phones
that we rent out for a small fee.

Airport Transfers and Taxi Services
We only use registered service providers that have the correct
legal permits and insurance to transport guests. If you provided
with much cheaper airport transfers than we can offer you probably
using an unlicensed and uninsured operator. It is naturally only
a problem if you involved in an accident.
We have negotiated fixed rates with a Taxi Company rather than
providing guests with a per kilometer charge so you know before
hand what a specific trip will cost you. If you do want to use
the meter system the vehicles all have tracking devices for monitoring
purposes.
Car Hire
Should you like a comparative quote for car hire from a company
which users national car rental companies (Budget, National Alamo
and Europcar) please let us know, we have saved guests huge amounts
of money in the past.
Itinerary Advice
Whilst we not registered tour guides we can help you on the
basis of our local knowledge / experience and feedback from other
guests. Also see our sample itineraries that have been drawn
up by a guide.
Tours
Our relationship with numerous tour guides and tour operators
will allow you to relax and experience the area without having
to be concerned about driving on the wrong side of the road or
enjoying your wine tasting toooooo much, cheers!
Guides are not as expensive as one would imagine especially
if they use your hired car and will give you loads of relevant
information. This becomes more of an option if you on a first
visit and your time is very limited. It is also best to arrange
this prior to arrival.
Meals
With so many good quality restaurants close by we do not offer
lunch or evening meals on a regular basis. During the winter
months we do however provide light evening meals by arrangement.
Should you be spending time at the guesthouse and feel like
a light snack during the day we will try our best to accommodate
you. We do serve Coffee and Tea during the day as part of our
honesty bar service.
We do offer our guests a braai or pizza evening on request.
These have proved to be extremely popular so if you would like
us to arrange it please let us know the cost of which is determined
by your choice of menu.
